<image:title>Weddings & Vow Renewals - Your vow renewal</image:title>
<image:caption>You’ve been through some years together, and you still want to shout to the world about how you feel towards one another? That’s something to celebrate. Couples choose a vow renewal for many reasons – perhaps you didn’t have the wedding you really wanted the first time round; perhaps there are people important in your lives who were not there when you married; perhaps it’s a special anniversary. Whatever the reasons, your ceremony is unique to you. It can take place wherever you like, as there are no legal restrictions this time round. Are you proud of your garden? Have it there! I would be honoured to be your celebrant, telling your love story thus far and helping you demonstrate to your family and friends the strength of your love and commitment to one another.</image:caption>

<image:title>Weddings & Vow Renewals - Congratulations – you’re getting married!</image:title>
<image:caption>The lovely thing about weddings and civil partnerships now is that they do not have to be tied to traditional venues or words – unless that’s what you’ve always wanted, of course. It’s your wedding and we can create a ceremony that expresses you as a couple. The photos on this page are from two of my nieces’ weddings - as you can see, they are as different as the two couples, even though the women are sisters! One was in a beautiful registry office, followed by a trip on the London tube to a pub for drinks and food; the other was on the beach in Thailand. Their incredible happiness shines out! That is what makes my job so amazing. Every ceremony is unique. Whether you’re exchanging your bespoke vows in a forest clearing, on a beach, in a stately home or a hotel, what passes between you and witnessed by your friends and families has never taken place before. You’ll want everything to go smoothly - but with a room full of love, it doesn’t really matter if something goes a little bit wrong, that’s another memory created. There’s so much more to tell you, so please read the FAQs & Prices page, and get in touch to talk about how we can create your perfect ceremony.</image:caption>

<image:title>Baby Namings & Family Ceremonies - Baby Namings</image:title>
<image:caption>Many people are not brought up within a traditional faith household or have decided that a recognised faith is not for them. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have values or morals, or want your children to have guidance in this world and feel that they have a loving community that supports them. A baby naming ceremony is an official announcement to your family and friends that this new person is someone to be celebrated and cared for by more than just their parents. It is a statement of commitment from the adults in the child’s life that they will be there for them and that they wish only positive experiences for them. It’s a ‘welcome to the world’ ceremony; a joyous occasion that can also have some solemn moments, such as the lighting of candles, promises made, and hopes and wishes for the child’s life expressed. And it doesn’t need to be a baby! Having a welcoming ceremony for any new member of the family means they know how important they are to both you and the significant adults in your life. If you would like to discuss how we can give your child their own special day, please get in touch.</image:caption>

<image:title>Baby Namings & Family Ceremonies - Family Ceremonies</image:title>
<image:caption>What exactly is a Family Ceremony? Anything you would like it to be! Here are some examples of what you could celebrate: A significant birthday or anniversary An engagement A coming of age birthday Welcoming an adopted child Moving into a new home or place of work Combining of two families Marking a divorce or a ‘conscious uncoupling’ A graduation Exactly how your ceremony looks, which music you use, which readings or exchanges of commitments you decide on, can all be fine-tuned as the date of your event approaches. As with a wedding or baby naming, I can write a meaningful and unforgettable ceremony from the information and stories you tell me.</image:caption>

<image:title>Funerals, Celebrations of Life & Memorials - A unique funeral service</image:title>
<image:caption>The importance of a funeral as part of the grieving process cannot be underestimated. It provides comfort for family and friends. It is a time to come together to acknowledge the loss of a loved one and to share stories and memories. Through music, readings, poetry and reminiscences, we tell their story in a shared experience of reflection. I offer non-religious services but am very happy to include any spiritual references, words or music that will bring comfort while respectfully representing the beliefs of your loved one. Using information gathered during a face-to-face meeting, video call or phone conversation, I will write a service that is a true representation of the person you have lost. The script will be sent for your approval and any amendments made at your suggestion. If anyone would like to take part by presenting readings, prayers or music, I will liaise with them and offer guidance so that the ceremony can run as smoothly as possible. If you would like to discuss how we can make your loved one’s funeral a unique and special occasion, please contact me.</image:caption>

<image:title>Funerals, Celebrations of Life & Memorials - Celebration of life or memorial service</image:title>
<image:caption>More and more families are choosing a direct cremation for their loved one, for a variety of reasons. For some, a small funeral with just close family and friends is what is wanted, as the grief is too overwhelming for a more public ceremony. Once some time has passed, you may feel more able to celebrate your loved one’s life and to include a wider circle of people who were influenced by them but missed the chance to show respect by attending the funeral. Holding a service of remembrance, memorial service or celebration of life ceremony is the perfect way to honour the person who has passed. Unlike a funeral, time and venue restrictions do not apply. As a civil celebrant, I am able to write the eulogy and help you structure the service. I can liaise with anyone wanting to participate and can act as the master of ceremonies on the day. If you are thinking of marking the loss of someone dear to you in this way, please contact me to discuss how we can turn your ideas into a memorable occasion.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Ruth - Ruth Arnold</image:title>
<image:caption>It’s nice to ‘meet’ you! Here’s where you decide if I’m the right person for you to trust with your special occasion. I’m a Londoner - born in the West, lived in the East while at college and moved into North London in 1990 to be with my partner, Andrew. We have two grown up girls and one cat. After working in Human Resources at the BBC, I left to pursue my dream of becoming an actor and studied at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As a working actor, I have performed in TV, film, radio, and - my first love - theatre. As an out-of-work actor, I have been a proofreader and editor, a tour manager, led workshops in personal presentation skills and customer care, waitressed (inevitably) and enjoyed a stint as a singer in a piano bar (11pm to 2am slot!). As my children grew older, I took a full-time job with an engagement agency where I co-designed and delivered a variety of workshops and conferences for national and international businesses. Since giving up acting and becoming rather jaded with the corporate world, I looked for a profession that would truly suit my many varied skills and fulfil my natural instinct to help people. I was drawn to celebrancy and am so delighted to be on this very fulfilling journey. My excellent training, towards the end of 2020, was with the Fellowship of Independent Celebrants - an organisation that guides and supports its celebrants, giving both opportunities for further study and information on all new legislation. The following year, I led over 100 funerals and conducted my first wedding on the TV show ‘Married at First Sight UK’ - a baptism of fire! My celebrant career has flourished and I’m so grateful to all the families who have continued to entrust me with their unique and special days. Most of the images you see on my website are either photos of my family, or of my friends’ design work, and I am very grateful to them all for believing in me. I look forward to hearing from you.</image:caption>
